Many organizations can see the potential of AI, but quickly encounter a barrier: it is often both time-consuming and technically complex to develop and operate AI apps.
Usually you have to decide on things like servers, security, user management, operation and choice of AI models. It requires specialist knowledge and means that many good ideas never become reality.
We have changed that.
With a new feature in Promte, you can now upload your own AI apps and run them directly on our infrastructure. This means that we take care of all the technical stuff in the background, while you can focus on what creates value: how the app works for users and what problem it is supposed to solve.
Building an app on Promte follows a simple process:
You create a new app in Promte and use it as a framework for development
The app is built as a frontend app and uses the existing Promte setup as backend
During development, the app can be tested locally via Promte's debug function
When the app is complete, it is uploaded to your Promte setup and Promte takes care of the rest
Users and rights are managed directly in Promte or your existing AD/SSO connected to Promte, without changes to the code
If you want a more technical and step-by-step review, you can read the full documentation here: https://docs.promte.com/byg-din-egen-ai-app-paa-promte
In addition to allowing you to develop and distribute apps in your organization, Promte also makes it easy to share and use apps that others have developed directly on your own Promte setup.
Promte now includes a common app library where AI apps can be shared and reused across customers. Here you can:
Use apps developed by Promte
Publish your own apps so others can enjoy them
Access apps from other organizations
The idea behind the library is openness and collaboration. Instead of everyone inventing the same solution separately, you can build on each other's ideas and experiences - and at the same time be sure that the entire solution continues to run in the organization's existing Promte setup with built-in security, setup of AI models, user management, etc.
In addition to sharing apps across organizations, we also want to share how to build working AI apps relatively easily. That's why we make many of Promte's AI apps Open Source. And when we say the apps are open source, we mean it quite literally.
The source code for the apps is freely available and shared openly on GitHub. This means that everyone can:
See how the apps are built
Learn from them and be inspired
Adapt and further develop them to your own needs - both in the Promte solution, but also on other AI platforms or hosted on their own as independent apps.
Open source is about transparency and knowledge sharing - and about making it easier to build good solutions together. We have therefore now made some of our app freely available and hope that other organizations will do the same if they build apps for the Promte platform.
The source code for our apps as well as various documentation can be viewed GitHub here.
There are already several small, practical apps ready in the library:
Word-oversætter
Upload a Word document and have it translated into another language. The document's structure, layout and formatting are preserved, so the file is ready to use immediately.
Summarize document
Upload a file and get a short and precise summary of the content. Suitable for a quick overview of long reports or documents.
Konsekvensanalyse-input
Choose which impact analysis template to use, describe the system and upload documentation, answer clarifying AI-generated questions and get AI-generated input for an impact analysis directly in e.g. The Excel template from the Norwegian Data Protection Authority.
...And there are many more apps on the way, both built by Promte alone but also jointly with several municipalities. We look forward to seeing what AI apps you build – and to developing solutions together. You can continuously follow the development of our AI apps here: /app-bibliotek
There is much more to come 🫶
